  James Bostock is best known for his wood engravings, most of which were produced post war from 1945 through to around 1990. During the later period he made greater use of the medium of oil painting and watercolour. From around 1990 the focus was on watercolour painting, which formed the main body of his work until the mid-1990s.
There is a wide range of work in the Bostock family collection which spans his career as an artist.
